Assim Ghaffoor Biography

I qualified from Sheffield University in 1999 and moved to Leyland opening Station Dental Practice in 2003.  Station and Grove Dental Practice were merged in August 2022 to form our amazing new practice - 71 Dental.

Over the years, I have the privilege of working with a wonderful and talented teams serving our patients from far and wide.

Education is a passion and I have been involved in supervising and mentoring newly qualified dentists and dental therapists since 2007, many of who continue to work at the practice.

My particular area of interest in Dentistry is Dental Implantology and Oral Surgery having gained a Master’s Degree qualification in Implantology and a Certificate qualification in Oral Surgery.

I have also gained further post graduate teaching qualifications and three from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. Together, I have completed courses in Cosmetic Dentistry and Orthodontics.

Currently, I am completing a course in Sedation which will further compliment the scope of dental treatment the practice can deliver supporting our patients.

Helen Hughes Biography

I began working with the 71 Dental team in 2014 and I have remained settled here ever since.  Lancashire has been my home for over 20 years and I enjoy providing dental and aesthetic care to my local community.

I enjoy general family dentistry and I have a passion for continued education – both learning and teaching.  I have undertaken extensive postgraduate training to provide a range of more specialist skills.

I am an Invisalign provider, having received training from some of the world’s top Invisalign orthodontists in London. 

Facial aesthetics is something I have a passion for.  I have trained to MSc level at the world renowned skin ageing department at The University of Manchester.  I love being able to improve a patient’s confidence in their own skin. 

I also work for Higher Education England to support newly qualified dentists and I am currently studying at Edge Hill University for a formal qualification in medical education. 

As well as working at 71 I feel very lucky to teach dental technicians to provide clinical dentures on the CDT course at The University of Central Lancashire.  I enjoy making dentures and I am passionate about providing natural and functional results.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and swimming and mountain bike riding.  I have a love for travelling and I enjoy taking our daughter to see as much of the world as I can.
